Terms of Service

These Terms of Service apply to your use of the Breenco UK Electrical SIM website, simulator, training pages, downloadable materials, and related content together, the Service. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Access and account security

Access to the public website may be offered on a free or preview basis. Some areas of the Service may later require registration, administrator approval, or a paid licence. If we issue account credentials, you must keep them confidential, use them only for authorised purposes, and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

We may suspend, restrict, or withdraw access where reasonably necessary for security, maintenance, misuse prevention, legal compliance, or protection of the Service and its users.

2. Acceptable use

You must use the Service lawfully, responsibly, and in a way that does not harm the Service or others. You must not:

  • breach applicable law, regulations, or third-party rights when using the Service;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, simulator, hosting environment, accounts, or connected systems;
  • introduce malware, denial-of-service activity, scraping abuse, or other technically harmful material;
  • copy, resell, reverse engineer, decompile, or extract protected code, content, or training materials except where the law expressly permits it and that right cannot be excluded;
  • present simulator outputs as certification, compliance sign-off, site inspection results, or professional electrical advice.

3. Simulation, training, and electrical safety disclaimer

The Service is intended for learning, demonstration, planning, and digital simulation. It does not replace competent professional judgement, live testing, inspection, design verification, certification, or safe-isolation procedures.

Any outputs, examples, forms, calculations, or visual diagrams provided by the Service may be simplified, incomplete, or unsuitable for a real installation. Any real-world electrical work should be checked by a competent person against applicable requirements, including site conditions, manufacturer instructions, DNO requirements, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and relevant editions of BS 7671 where applicable.

4. Intellectual property and licence

Unless stated otherwise, the software, simulator logic, branding, page design, text, graphics, audio, and training content are owned by or licensed to [insert legal business name]. All intellectual property rights are reserved.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Service for personal learning, evaluation, or internal business training, subject to these terms. This licence does not transfer ownership. If you send feedback, ideas, or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve the Service without payment or further approval.

5. Availability, changes, and linked services

We may update, improve, suspend, or withdraw any part of the Service at any time. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or free from defects. Content may change from time to time and may not always be kept fully up to date.

Where the Service contains links to third-party websites, products, standards bodies, or external resources, those links are provided for convenience only. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices.

6. Fees and future paid services

Unless we clearly state otherwise, access to this version of the Service is provided on a free or preview basis. If we later introduce paid subscriptions, training seats, support plans, credits, or hosted simulation services, separate commercial terms, pricing, and cancellation rules may also apply.

7. Liability and consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to the paragraph above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business opportunity, loss of goodwill, and loss of data arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Where the Service is made available free of charge, it is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

If you are a consumer, your statutory rights under applicable law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015, remain unaffected.

8. Governing law and disputes

These terms, and any non-contractual dispute or claim arising out of them or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of [England and Wales / Scotland / Northern Ireland].

The courts of [England and Wales / Scotland / Northern Ireland] will have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protections allow you to bring a claim in another part of the UK where you live.

9. Changes to these terms and contact

We may revise this page from time to time by updating it here. If you continue to use the Service after changes take effect, that continued use will normally be treated as acceptance of the updated terms to the extent permitted by law.

Questions about these terms should be sent to [insert legal contact email] or by post to [insert legal correspondence address].

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we may collect, use, store, and share personal data in connection with the website and simulator.

1. What information we may collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:

  • identity and contact details you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, company, or role;
  • messages, enquiries, support requests, and complaint details that you send to us;
  • account and authentication details, if user login or admin access is enabled;
  • technical and usage information such as IP address, browser type, device details, requested pages, timestamps, and security or error logs;
  • simulator preference or working-state information stored in your browser, including settings, selected modes, and form progress saved locally on your device;
  • billing or transaction information if paid features are introduced later.

2. How we use personal data

We may use personal data to:

  • provide and administer the website, simulator, and any related accounts or support services;
  • respond to enquiries, complaints, and technical issues;
  • maintain, secure, test, monitor, and improve the Service;
  • manage permissions, prevent misuse, investigate incidents, and enforce these terms;
  • keep appropriate records and comply with legal, tax, regulatory, or insurance obligations;
  • send service updates and, where allowed, marketing communications or product notices.

3. Lawful bases

Under UK data protection law, we may rely on one or more of the following lawful bases:

  • Contract: where processing is necessary to provide the Service or to take steps at your request.
  • Legitimate interests: where necessary to operate, secure, improve, and administer the Service in a way that does not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation: where we need to keep records, answer lawful requests, or meet regulatory duties.
  • Consent: where consent is required, for example for optional marketing or non-essential storage and access technologies.

4. Browser storage, cookies, and similar technologies

The current simulator uses browser storage technologies, including localStorage and sessionStorage, to support the user experience. Based on the reviewed site code on 21 March 2026, this includes storage for setup options, simulator mode persistence, DNO-related values, cable and EICR form progress, and the last-opened form tab.

This type of browser storage is separate from server-side account data and may remain on your device until it is cleared, overwritten, or your browser removes it. If we add analytics, advertising tags, or other non-essential storage or access technologies, we will update this page and seek consent where required under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and UK GDPR.

5. Sharing and processors

We may share personal data, where reasonably necessary, with:

  • hosting, infrastructure, email, authentication, analytics, or technical support providers;
  • professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants, auditors, and insurers;
  • courts, regulators, law-enforcement bodies, or public authorities where disclosure is required or reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety;
  • a buyer, investor, or successor organisation in connection with a merger, restructure, financing, or sale of the business or assets.

We do not sell personal data. If we later introduce additional third-party tools, we should update this page before they go live.

6. International transfers

We aim to keep personal data within the UK where practical. If we use service providers outside the UK, we will do so only where there is an appropriate safeguard in place, such as an adequacy decision or another recognised transfer mechanism.

7. Retention

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. As a general guide:

  • general enquiries and correspondence may be retained for up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact;
  • account records may be kept while an account remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards for security, disputes, and compliance;
  • technical and security logs may be kept for as long as reasonably necessary for monitoring, auditing, and troubleshooting;
  • browser-stored simulator information may remain on your device until you clear browser data or the app overwrites it.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • ask us to erase personal data where there is no continuing lawful basis to keep it;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your personal data;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing;
  • receive certain personal data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

9. Contact and complaints

Privacy questions and rights requests should be sent to [insert privacy contact email].

If you are unhappy with how we handle personal data, we would welcome the opportunity to resolve the issue first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Additional Legal Notices

1. Company disclosure

If the Service is operated through a UK limited company or LLP, the public website and business correspondence should display the required business details, which may include the registered name, company number, registered office, and VAT number where applicable.

2. Professional boundary

Use of the Service does not create an engineer-client, consultant-client, or regulated professional advisory relationship. The Service is an educational and operational support tool, not regulated legal or engineering advice.

3. Copyright and trade marks

The Breenco name, simulator interface, documentation, forms, and training materials are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws unless stated otherwise. Any permitted use must remain subject to these terms and any written permissions we issue.

4. Security and misuse reporting

You must not knowingly introduce viruses, trojans, worms, or other malicious code, or attempt to interfere with the normal operation of the Service. Activity that appears to breach the Computer Misuse Act 1990 or other applicable law may be investigated and reported to the relevant authorities.

5. Legal notices and takedown requests

Legal notices, infringement complaints, and takedown requests should be sent to [insert legal notice email] with enough detail for us to identify the material, the basis of the complaint, and how to contact you.
